COMMUNICATION | MOTION | INTERACTIVE: DREAM CREATE & BELIEVE
DESCRIPTION: LIFESTYLE MOTION PIECE & IPAD MAGAZINE APPLICATION
This project plays close to my heart. I wanted to create a magazine that had interviews of creative individuals and a place showcasing products that will help raise funds for the Cancer Foundation. What better interactive platform to use but the iPad. The challenge I had to face was how can I engage the target market to download this application. During the brainstorming phase, I thought about the story and beliefs behind the Almighty name. I decided to divide a section into three parts, Dream, Create and Believe. Giving the viewer an in-depth look what each word meant to the brand. One of the main features of the app is the motion piece. Following four creative individuals working at their workspace.


To start off, I gathered anything that inspired me relating to this project. Anything from inspirational quotes to documentaries. Every time I pick up a photo, that captivates the direction of the project, I would paste it into my sketchbook. I like to keep my ideas analog and then translate it to digital. The next step was to build the wireframe of the application. Here I was able to see exactly how the application would function. In between wireframing and creating assets for the app, I was setting up schedules to film the featured creatives. I was able to get all the footage and still shots that I needed in a weeks work. After completing the wireframe and the editing of a rough cut, I dove into the final edit and sound design for the piece.


Prior to the production phase I had sketched a few ideas of how I wanted the fight against Cancer campaign would look like. I then designed a few mock ups and played around with the idea until I was satisfied. After receiving feedback from my peers I was able to finalize the logo that would represent this campaign. I started to apply the campaign’s identity to t-shirts and realized that it shouldn’t stop there. So I designed buttons and wrist bands. Anything that would help the campaign.

After completing this project, I’ve learned the importance of planning and how important process is to design. Recording and documenting every major milestone of the process will help me with my design approach in the future. Below are two videos of my case study and the iPad application being demonstrated.
